Confirmation Program
Welcome to the confirmation program at Christ the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Confirmation is another step in your son or daughter's journey of faith. The confirmation program will provide the foundation, which will prepare your son or daughter to affirm their faith and the mission of the Christian church. This journey will lead to Affirmation of Baptism, another of the steps in our Christian Education program.
As an infant you were baptized. Because you were too young to speak for yourself, your parents and sponsors spoke for you. They were asked some important questions such as: "Do you believe in God the Father . . in Jesus Christ, the Son of God. . . in God the Holy Spirit?" (LBW p.123). As parents and sponsors you promised to "faithfully bring him/her to the services of God's house, and teach him/her the Lord's Prayer, the Creed and the Ten Commandments. As he/she grows in years, you should place in his/her hands the Holy Scriptures and provide for his/her instruction in the Christian faith" (LBW p. 121). ). The Confirmation program is designed to assist parents in fulfilling the promises they made at the time of baptism.
Through our Confirmation program, we at Christ the Good Shepherd look forward to partnering with parents in helping you fulfill your baptismal promises as well as assisting in the faith development of our young people.
